A Christmas Story House & Museum

The House 

You will start your visit at the restored Christmas Story House. Tours take place every half hour. Each room in the home is decorated to look just like it did in the movie. The house gets popular in November and December, so be prepared to wait or purchase a fast pass ticket.

Museum 

Across the street from the house is the museum. Here, you will find original movie props, costumes, and memorabilia. On display are hundreds of rare behind the scenes photos from the set. The collection includes the chalkboard from Miss Shield’s classroom, the family car, Higbee’s window, and Randy’s snowsuit.Visit the gift shop and take a piece of the Christmas Story home with you. The famous leg lamp and pink suit are obvious souvenirs. However, you could also purchase a leg lamp shaped shot glass, leg lamp cookie cutter, or plush Bumpus hound.

Spend the Night

You can spend the night in the Christmas Story House or the Bumpus House. You will have use of the third floor during operating hours and the whole house after hours. Rates start at $545 per night.

How to Visit 

The house is open from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week. It is closed on national holidays. You can purchase tickets online or on-site. Your ticket will give you entrance to the house and museum.
