As Ohio’s largest museum devoted to natural science, the Natural History Museum is home to more than five million research specimens and artifacts. The museum’s team of researchers and curators have turned the museum into a global leader in scientific research and one of the top ten natural history museums in the United States. For over 100 years, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History has delighted and educated its visitors.

Collections 

As you explore the museum, you will discover several collections focusing on different areas of nature. Permanent collections include archaeology, botany, animal ethics, anthropology, mineralogy, ornithology, paleontology, and human evolutionary medicine. This lets you explore all of the different sciences or focus on the area of most interest to you. 

In addition, the museum hosts temporary exhibits that range in theme. Some are designed to educate children and youth. Others are geared toward those with special interests, such as birds, butterflies, or dogs. 

Educational Programs 

The museum hosts several community outreach programs designed to provide education on natural history. Each summer, several summer programs are designed for children of all ages. The museum works with local schools throughout the year to provide programs that complement the school’s curriculum.

Dining 

The museum has on-site dining options that include indoor and outdoor seating options. Levy is a local, critically acclaimed hospitality company crafting delicious plates that align with the museum’s values of reducing, reusing, and recycling. 

How to Visit 

You must purchase or reserve your tickets in advance. Tickets range in price from $7 to $10. There are also discounts and free ticket options available for those who qualify. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. It is closed on national holidays. There is a parking garage available for convenient paid parking.

We do our best to get you into your room upon arrival, but we cannot guarantee you will be able to check in before 04:00 PM. We want your room to be perfect for you so our housekeeping team needs time to make that happen.

Please ask the property front desk for more details on late check out. We can sometimes give an extra hour or two but cannot guarantee it. Anything beyond 01:00 PM will incur additional charges.

We require a commitment for the full length of stay based on the booked arrival and departure dates. In the event that you depart early, we do not often have enough time to rebook the room so we do typically charge. Please discuss with our front desk in the event that your travel plans change during your trip.

Yes! We love pets! In the interest of the security and safety of all our guests, we do not allow pets above 40 lbs. We only allow dogs and cats. We charge a cleaning fee up to $350 pet for all pets (depending on length of stay).
