The Eastern Market is a must-see attraction for those visiting Detroit. This indoor market has operated continuously for over 125 years. It has become a cornerstone of Detroit and a beacon for the community. Spend a few hours or the day exploring the market while you grab a bite to eat and shop.

Saturday Market

Visiting the Eastern Market on Saturday is the best time to visit. The market opens every Saturday throughout the entire year. It is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are over 225 vendor stalls to explore. A variety of goods are available, such as produce, meat, cheese, seafood, baked goods, bread, artisanal items, flowers, apparel, accessories, jewelry, and art.

Sunday Market

The Sunday market is a different version of the Saturday market. It focuses on local artisans and goods. The market occurs every Sunday, June through September, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tuesday Market

A scaled-down version of the market occurs on Tuesdays. You will typically find meat, produce, and baked goods. The Tuesday market takes place from June through September from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can also attend a free yoga or Zumba class. Yoga is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Zumba is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Tours

You can take a tour of the market. However, they are offered by third-party tour companies. Many offer themed tours that focus on a particular interest. Popular tours are focused on food, history, or drinking. A tour is a great way to discover hidden gems and the best vendor stalls for your interests.

Flower Day

One of the busiest days for the market is Flower Day. Each year on the Sunday after Mother’s Day, the market hosts Flower Day. You’ll find the market overflowing with fresh blooms, bringing an explosion of color.
