With Florida having so much coastline, it should be no surprise that it has one of the most impressive aquariums in the country. The Florida Aquarium lets you see some of Florida’s and the world’s most interesting sea creatures up close.

Habitats

The aquarium is home to nine habitats that feature exotic aquatic animals from all over the world. You can walk as slow or as fast as you like through each habitat. A notable feature is the 80-foot glass dome in the wetlands habitat. Or there is the 500,000-gallon tank in the Coral Reef habitat.

Exhibits

In addition to the animal habitats, several exhibits throughout the aquarium enrich your experience. There is the TGH Animal Health Care Center, 4Ducks Theater, The Splash Pad, and CIBC Aquatic Lounge in the Mosaic Center.

Experiences

The aquarium offers two unique experiences. First, the Wild Dolphin Cruise takes you on an excursion into the bay to see Florida wildlife in its natural habitat. Taking this cruise is part of your general admission ticket. The other experience offered is the SeaTREK. This is a guided underwater walking tour. Those ten and older will wear a special helmet and wetsuit that allows them to walk 15-feet deep in the Sea Habitat. You don’t need to know how to dive to participate. However, you will need to purchase a special ticket for this experience.

How to Visit

You can purchase tickets online or at the door to visit the Florida Aquarium. Ticket pricing can change based on how far in advance you purchase tickets and the day of the week. You can also reserve a visit time. This is useful, as it can get quite busy, and the aquarium limits how many visits can enter at a time. Tickets offered include children two and under, children 3-11, Adults, and Senior 60+. Parking is available at the Channelside District parking garage or one of the parking lots.
