Formerly known as the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the David A. Straz, Jr. Center has been a staple in the Tampa community since 1987. This complex features five individual theaters. There is the Morsani Hall, Ferguson Hall, Jaeb Theater, TECO Theater, and Shimberg Playhouse. In a typical season, over 600,000 patrons enjoy over 1,500 events. Theater Complex

The Straz Center is a nine-acre complex located on the Riverwalk that sits next to the Hillsborough River. It is one of the largest performing arts complexes in the country at 335,000 square feet. There are five theaters of varying sizes. 

  • Morsani Hall - 2,610 seats
  • Ferguson Hall - 1,042 seats
  • Jaeb Theater - 312 seats 
  • TECO Theater - 250 seats
  • Shimberg Playhouse - 130 seats

Performances 

Because there are multiple theaters, the Straz Center is able to host a wide variety of events and shows. There is an opera, Broadway, and dance series during the performance season. Each feature has multiple shows. There are also musical, comedy, and speaking performances from well-known artists. For those with little ones, you can find several family-friendly events. 

Season Tickets 

You can purchase tickets for a single show or the entire season. Season ticket packages lock in pricing and come with a discount. Choose the series that appeals to you.

Luxury Boxes 

Upgrade your experience with a luxury mezzanine box in Carol Morsani Hall. Each box has six seats. You can purchase 8, 12, or 16-show packages.

Dining 

There are several drink and dining options located at the Straz Center. This makes it a perfect place for an evening night out.

Maestro’s Restaurant 

Enjoy a relaxing dinner with table-side service pre-show. Located above the Jaeb Theater, each night features a menu themed for the night’s performance. Full dinner with entree, soup, salad, and dessert courses are $55.50 per person. Reservations are encouraged. 

Maestro’s Cafe 

Make a reservation to enjoy dining at the Maestro’s Cafe. It’s located in the Ruth Silbiger Lobby of Carol Morsani Hall. For $44.50 per person, you can enjoy a full buffet. The menu regularly changes to reflect the night’s show theme. 

Maestro’s on the River 

Opening up 90 minutes before showtime, Maestro’s on the River offers an outdoor waterfront atmosphere. You can enjoy wine, beer, and cocktails with light fare. Get there early, as reservations aren’t accepted. 

Steamheat Coffee Shop 

If you need a pick-me-up, stop by the Steamheat Coffee Shop. It serves Buddy Brew Coffee and a rotating menu of sandwiches, light fare, and desserts. 

SIP Riverfront Bar 

The perfect place to grab a cocktail before your show is at the SIP. At the southern end of the complex, you will see a '60s-era Airstream. You can order cocktails, beer, and wine. It’s one of the few places in Tampa where you can order an alcoholic drink to-go. During summer, the frozen drinks are a popular choice for locals. 

How to Visit 

If you would like to visit the Straz Center, you need to purchase tickets to a show. Prices can vary based on the show and the seats. Parking is free at the Straz Center’s Arrival Plaza when attending your event.

We do our best to get you into your room upon arrival, but we cannot guarantee you will be able to check in before 04:00 PM. We want your room to be perfect for you so our housekeeping team needs time to make that happen.

Please ask the property front desk for more details on late check out. We can sometimes give an extra hour or two but cannot guarantee it. Anything beyond 01:00 PM will incur additional charges.

We require a commitment for the full length of stay based on the booked arrival and departure dates. In the event that you depart early, we do not often have enough time to rebook the room so we do typically charge. Please discuss with our front desk in the event that your travel plans change during your trip.

Yes! We love pets! In the interest of the security and safety of all our guests, we do not allow pets above 40 lbs. We only allow dogs and cats. We charge a cleaning fee up to $350 pet for all pets (depending on length of stay).
